Tool Settings

Intro

The tool settings window contains context specific options depending on the current tool in use. It is positioned at the top right of the default Workspace.

Tools

Select

Snap Angle - Set an angle for Shapes to snap to when being rotated with the Shift key held.

Transform mode - with multiple selections determine whether the Transform tool should act on the selection as a group or as individual layers:

  • Group - Rotate/Scale all selected Shapes together.
  • Individual - Rotate/Scale all selected Shapes from each layers individual pivot point.

Layer Tools - When checked, certain Layers will display purple UI elements which can be used to adjust their settings directly in the Viewport.

Corner Radius

Hold Option/Alt to adjust individual corner radii for a Rectangle.

info

Layer tools are not available when a Shape is the parent of another Shape.

Viewport Tool Help - When checked, helpful hints will be overlaid in the bottom left corner of the Viewport.

Edit Shape

Snap Angle - Set an angle for Shapes to snap to when being rotated with the Shift key held.

Tooltips - When checked, information will be displayed in the Viewport when hovering the cursor over a Shape's points.

Transform Tool - When checked, selected points can be rotated or scaled as a group.

info

When the Transform tool is enabled, any bézier handles are hidden and it is not possible to convert points from corner to bézier, to split a path or to use the 'bézier moulding' feature.

Close Distance - Set the distance within which a selected point will merge with another point when dropped near it. Note - this value is independent of the Viewport scale. This distance is indicated in the Viewport when the cursor is positioned within this distance of the first point.

Tool Help - When checked, helpful hints will be overlaid in the bottom left corner of the Viewport.

Curve Ghosting - When checked a 'ghost' of the path will appear when editing points as a reference.

Pen

Snap Angle - Set an angle for Shapes to snap to when being rotated with the Shift key held.

Stroke Width - Set the width of the Stroke.

Cap Style - Set the appearance of caps (each end of the stroke) for open paths.

  • Flat - A flat end that terminates at the end point.
  • Round - A hemispherical end with the end point at its centre.
  • Projecting - A flat end that projects half the Width beyond the end point.

Close Distance - If the last point of a Shape is drawn within this value of the start point, a closed path will be created. Note - this value is independent of the Viewport scale. This distance is indicated in the Viewport when the cursor is positioned within this distance of the first point.

Tool Help - When checked, helpful hints will be overlaid in the bottom left corner of the Viewport.

Pencil

Stroke Width - Set the width of the Stroke.

Cap Style - Set the appearance of caps (each end of the stroke) for open paths.

  • Flat - A flat end that terminates at the end point.
  • Round - A hemispherical end with the end point at its centre.
  • Projecting - A flat end that projects half the Width beyond the end point.

Accuracy - Determine how closely your resulting shape resembles your cursor movements. A higher setting will result in a more accurate shape but will create more points.

Stabiliser - When checked, the path will be 'stabilised' as it is drawn. This can be useful for drawing smoother curves with less points.

Stability Radius - Determine the level of stability. A higher value will create longer, smoother curves.

Close Distance - If the last point of a Shape is drawn within this value of the start point, a closed path will be created. When closing a path, anything within the Close Distance is resampled so a smooth join can be created. This means that the start of the path will also be updated. Note - this value is independent of the Viewport scale. This distance is indicated in the Viewport when the cursor is positioned within this distance of the first point.

Tool Help - When checked, helpful hints will be overlaid in the bottom left corner of the Viewport.

Primitives

(Rectangle, Ellipse, Polygon, Star, Arc, Super Ellipse, Cogwheel, Arrow, Capsule)

Create Editable Primitives - When checked, creating any primitive Shapes will create an Editable Shape.

Toolbar

When Create Editable Primitives is checked, a small E is added to the icons for each of the primitive tools within the Toolbar.

Tool Help - When checked, helpful hints will be overlaid in the bottom left corner of the Viewport.

Draw in 2.5D - When checked, 2.5D will be enabled for the Layer on creation meaning Shapes can be drawn in 2.5D when a Camera is active.
